This idea came to me a few days ago and I could not wait to test it out and I must say I am so glad that I did. This is one of those things that non vegans and vegans will love. Its super simple and easy to make and since I use Brown Rice Flour it's gluten free. The great thing about it is that you can cover them with whatever sauce you like. BBQ, Teriyaki, Sweet Chili or Hot Sauce the options are endless. I shamefully tried all of the flavors I mentioned and lemon pepper just happened to be what I was left with. I served these with some siracha on the side.
All you need is:
1/2 of a cauliflower (Carefully cut to make sure you are left with the floret and stems attached)
2 Cups of oil for frying
2 Tbs of your favorite Lemon Pepper Seasoning
1/2 Cup of Brown Rice Flower (or all purpose flour)
1.2 Cup of Water
1 Cup of Brown Rice Flour (or all purpose flour)
1/2 Tsp of Salt
1 Tsp of Onion Powder
1 Tsp of Garlic Powder
First carefully remove your cauliflower from the stalk making sure to leave the stems attached. Next combine 1/2 Cup of Brown Rice Flour and Water and mix until smooth (you can substitute with regular all purpose flour). In a separate bowl combine 1 Cup of Brown Rice Flour and Garlic and Onion Powder and Salt and mix well. Next heat a medium to large skillet over medium to medium high heat, Take cauliflower peices and drop into the flour and water mixture and coat evenly. Then roll into the seasoned flour mixture and coat evenly and drop into the hot oil. Cook for about 2 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy. * Avoid over crowding your pan by frying your cauliflower in small batches. Remove cauliflower and drain on a papertowel, then sprinkle on lemon pepper seasoning or your sauce of choice.
