Parmesan Crusted Cauliflower

It's almost game time. The Super Bowl is approaching and contrary to popular belief you can still have delicious party food and snacks without compromising eating a plant based diet. These parmesan crusted cauliflower bites are absolutely perfect for snacking without feeling guilty. You can make these in less than 20 minutes and simply serve them up with your favorite marinara sauce. Cook Time: 20 Minutes

Makes: About 3 Servings

*This recipe can easily be doubled if needed

All you need is:

The Wet Batter

1/2 a cauliflower head with the florets cut into bite size peices

3/4 cup of flour (I use all purpose but you can use a gluten free option such as rice flour)

1 tsp of garlic powder

1 tsp of onion powder

1 tsp of basil powder

1 tbs of nutritional yeast

1/2 tsp of salt

1-1/2 of cold water

The Dry Batter

1/2 a cup of flour

3/4 a cup of vegan parmesan cheese (get the recipe here)

1 tsp of garlic powder

1/3 tsp of salt

You will also need:

oil for cooking

salt and pepper to taste

1 cup of your favorite marinara sauce

1 tsp of fresh parsely chopped for garnish


  • Place all ingredients for the wet batter into a bowl and whisk until smooth and set aside

  • Next place the dry batter ingredients into a medium sized bowl and set aside.

  • Bring a large skillet over medium heat and add in about 1/2 an inch cooking oil.

  • Once the oil is hot simply dip the cauliflower bites into the wet batter first and then simply roll them around into the dry batter.

  • Carefully place the cauliflower into the hot oil and cook for about 1 to 2 minutes on each side or until crispy and golden brown.

  • Drain the cauliflower bites onto a paper towel and immediately sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste and garnish with parsley.
